Hi volunteers!

DCFS has asked the South Bay Church to help them with an event they are having on Saturday, April 22. They are looking for volunteers to assist girls in picking out prom dresses; shoes, accessories, and or help with make-up and or hair. The event is from 10am to 3pm at the DCFS office at 2325 Crenshaw Blvd., Torrance, CA 90057.

This would also be a great event to bring women who would like to help out with this very worthwhile event! Thank you!

HI volunteers! We have been asked to participate in an initiative with the Metro Region on a Community Baby Shower to benefit Newborns and Toddlers awaiting Foster/Adoption. Dr Heger, Founder and CEO of the VIOLENCE INTERVENTION PROGRAM created the VIP Baby and Toddler Resource Shelter to care for newborns and toddlers as they await placement with a foster family.

The ask is for ladies to stop by the event, which is Saturday, May 6 from 2pm to 4pm at the Metro Building on Crenshaw. Please send this flyer to friends and neighbors and bring a gift. Desserts are also needed for the shower. Please contact Mary Atkins 775-544-5832 if you can attend or have any questions. PLEASE support this very worthwhile event and let's make it a great success! Again, a GREAT event to invite women you know and who would be interested in helping out!!!

A group of servants volunteered to help organize the many, many dresses donated for these events at the DCFS office in Torrance. Due to a recent large donation of dresses, some organization was definitely needed! And thanks again to Bob Gibson for making the racks! These women helped to sort, organize and prepare the dresses for these upcoming events for teens in our community. Thanks to all!

We had over XXX volunteers turn out the weekend of MLK Day in January to serve our communities. Thank you so much to all those who volunteered, those who lead these projects and did all of the organizing, and those who prayed for our service projects.


Hello church, we have the opportunity to help a local organization, Community’s Child, by donating food (or money) for their weekend/summer food programs for kids at risk. These kids receive a free breakfast and lunch at school, but most will have nothing outside of the school day. Therefore, they (and their families) go hungry during the summer and on weekends. Community’s Child has a program that provides food for these kids and they are in desperate need of food donations in preparation for their summer program. Please bring any donations to church for the next 3 Sundays (5/15, 5/22 and 5/29). There will be a table set up to receive them. Please, please help if you can. A requested food list is below and attached (in case you want to ask friends to donate as well). PLEASE, NO GLASS JARS. Thank you so much!
